What you should know about starting them 

All across the Northern Plains Electric service area, we see large grain handling systems going up on the farms we serve.  Progress never looked so good. 

But it’s not without its growing pains.  Because ANY motor, when it is in startup mode, draws five to seven times as much voltage as it does when it is in operating mode, we have to be concerned about large motors and their capacity for causing voltage problems on the Northern Plains distribution system.
