Northern Plains/Basin Electric Power Cooperative Scholarship
Northern Plains Electric Cooperative offers a $1,000 scholarship to a dependent of a member-consumer of Northern Plains Electric Cooperative for the 2009-2010 school year.
Each of the 128 rural electric cooperatives that make up Basin Electric, including Northern Plains Electric Cooperative, receives $1000 from Basin Electric to award a scholarship to a dependent of a rural electric cooperative member who will enroll as a freshman in college each fall.
The scholarship program, which is in its 19th year, recognizes and encourages the academic achievements of students in the region. It also serves as an investment in the economic future of rural areas.
Applicants for the scholarship must be high school seniors enrolled or planning to enroll in a full-time course of study at an accredited two-year or four-year college, university or vocational/technical school.
Scholarship recipients will be chosen based on a combination of SAT/ACT scores and overall grade-point average, work experience, participation in school and community activities, a personal statement of career goals, a written recommendation by a third party and an essay, "You May have a variety of cooperatives in your hometown. How do these cooperatives contribute to your local community?"
Application are due by February 12, 2010.
